Postbiotics
The Long Journey
to Discovery

HYA™ is a postbiotic component that researchers have spent a mind-boggling amount of time discovering. Their resolute will and passion to support beauty and wellness has opened up a new area of healthcare.

The Beginning

Everything that led to the discovery of HYA™ began in 1946 in Kyoto, an ancient city with a long history.
From that time on, the search for useful microorganisms was a top priority, and researchers devoted themselves to research with a single-minded focus on the health of people.

The Origin of Innovation

This young man, who aspired to study pharmacy and eventually founded Nitto Pharmaceutical Industries, would always open new doors with the spirit of “creating a pharmaceutical company with a small but tangy taste.”
He would go on to found Nitto Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd.

Benefits of the food culture cultivated by the ancient capital Kyoto

As they continued their research, the young men began to pay attention to the food culture Kyoto had cultivated. They began to study the effects of bacteria on the intestines through miso, pickles, vegetarian food, and other ingredients. This led to the development of probiotic products of which Nitto Pharma is now proud.

One of the largest libraries in Japan

Eventually, the company began to study the function of intestinal bacteria themselves, and this led to even more innovative research. This is “Postbiotics”. Based on one of the largest gut microbes libraries in Japan, the company was the first in the world to elucidate the previously unknown metabolic pathway of lipids in gut microbes.

The will to never give up

The source of innovation was carried over to Noster Inc. without stopping the flow, enabling the company to take on the challenges of unexplored areas. The path to commercialization of the world's first discovery is now clear.

The birth of "HYA™-50"

After more than 10 more years of research and development since the discovery of the postbiotic ingredient HYA™, the postbiotics supplement HYA™-50 was finally born. This product became an iconic and led to Noster's launch of the CUMEC brand.
